Implementing a 5G Private Network with an enterprise-specific core enables nuanced control of network traffic, ensuring that mission-critical applications such as VSI Holomedicine® receive the necessary bandwidth for uninterrupted service. This network can be extended within each surgical suite through the deployment of indoor radio dot systems, enhancing connectivity where it’s most needed.
The adoption of 5G and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) is crucial for VSI Holomedicine®, ensuring advanced features of VSI Holomedicine® are enabled through localized processing. This reduces latency significantly and boosts computational efficiency. Such a strategy allows healthcare institutions with VSI HoloMedicine® platforms to fine-tune their network settings, promoting seamless data integration with the MEC system.

Disclaimer – Network performance may fluctuate based on location and the specific devices in use.
Large language models (Llms) Have been shown to demonstrate significant value in the healthcare setting which is why apoqlar medical is incorporating the functionality into both VR and mr Holomedicine®, with a particular focus on AI chat bots to understand and generate human-like responses. When combined with 5G solutions and edge computing, their capabilities are further enhanced through reduced latency and increased processing power, enabling real-time data analysis and faster, more accurate responses in healthcare applications.
To ensure the most efficient use of VSI Holomedicine® for surgical planning and remote collaboration, it is highly recommended to meet the 5G network minimum requirements. For optimal connectivity with devices such as Microsoft Hololens 2, it’s recommended to use 5G MiFi routers or industrial-grade 5G CPEs, complemented by private 5G SIM cards.
The 5G-enabled Holomedicine® project was a collaboration between NUHS, IMDA, Microsoft, and SingTel to establish a secure and seamless 5G private network infrastructure. Since August 2023, the NUHS indoor private 5G Enterprise and MEC Network has been deployed in ten operating theatres, with expansion to three in patient wards in November 2023. This 5G private network ensures low latency and high-speed connectivity, facilitating the smooth and secure transmission of 3D holographic imaging and real-time capabilities of VSI Holomedicine®
The 5G-enabled Holomedicine® project, a collaboration between KPJ Healthcare, Digital Nasional Berhad, Telekom Malaysia, and Microsoft, established a pre-surgical planning room equipped with a 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) setup with enterprise network optimization. This setup enables doctors to collaboratively use VSI Holomedicine® for pre-surgical planning and patient education, ensuring seamless and real-time interaction.
A private network is a secure mobile communications network to be utilized in a specific location (such as a hospital operating room). It utilizes dedicated RAN and/or core mobile network resources to enable customer (healthcare provider) – specific use cases. The healthcare provider is able to control and authorize which devices connect to the relevant network infrastructure, which means it is usable exclusively by these devices.
