apoQlar medical and ASPiH
apoQlar medical and ASPiH – London, UK [5 Dec, 2024]

apoQlar medical, a pioneer in medical mixed (MR) and virtual reality (VR) solutions, is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH) aimed at empowering medical educators with the platform to deliver an enriched, interactive learning experience that enables students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

ASPiH will launch a shared virtual space on the apoQlar medical HoloMedicine® Spaces platform for Institutional members to collaborate, showcase their content, share best practice and gather feedback from wherever they are located using immersive VR headsets.

With the increasing pressure to train the next generation of health workers to meet the growing demand on the national health system, technology such as Mixed & Virtual Reality can play a crucial role in scaling high quality learning experiences that boost engagement and improve knowledge retention among students. These innovative tools provide immersive and interactive environments that enhance traditional teaching methods, making complex medical concepts more accessible and easier to understand.

In addition, VR and MR learning environments cater specifically to Gen Z and adult learning preferences by offering highly visual, hands-on, and experiential learning opportunities. These platforms facilitate remote learning and preceptorship opportunities, thereby providing flexibility and efficiencies in delivering medical education across diverse geographic locations and time zones. This adaptability is particularly important in today’s fast-paced healthcare landscape, where learners and educators must often balance demanding schedules and limited access to physical resources.

Based on the principles of the flipped classroom model, students can be equipped with essential knowledge before entering the physical or virtual simulation labs. This pre-learning approach allows educators to maximize the use of in-person time by focusing on deepening understanding through meaningful discussion, interactive simulations, and real-life case analysis. By shifting the acquisition of foundational knowledge outside the classroom, the flipped model promotes active learning and critical thinking skills, which are essential for healthcare professionals.

Moreover, the integration of Mixed and Virtual Reality technologies within the flipped classroom framework supports a more personalized and adaptive learning experience. Students can review materials at their own pace, revisit challenging concepts, and engage with content that aligns with their individual learning styles. This personalized approach fosters higher engagement levels, encourages self-directed learning, and ultimately leads to better preparedness for clinical practice.

Furthermore, these technologies offer valuable opportunities for collaborative learning. Virtual simulations enable learners from different locations to come together in shared environments, promoting teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills that mirror real-world healthcare settings. Educators can also use data and analytics generated through these platforms to assess learner progress, identify areas of improvement, and tailor instructional strategies accordingly.

apoQlar medical hopes that providing immersive tools in the HoloMedicine® Spaces platform will enable ASPiH members to accelerate content creation which will benefit the wider community though collaboration and trading of learning artefacts and curricula.
